YLA Alumni Spotlight: Serenity Scott

Leading Now,

What made you decide to apply for YLA?

I decided to apply to YLA to step out of my comfort zone, but also anything with leadership behind it I’m going for it. I also wanted to learn more about Augusta and how one day I can make a difference.

What was your favorite class day?

My favorite class day was Arts Day. It was my favorite because of the performance we had to come up as a class and presented to kids of Jessye Norman School of Arts.

What was your favorite memory from your class year?

My favorite memory from class was at Camp Day and we had to get everyone over this huge wall with only the help of each other.

What's one thing you learned about Augusta that surprised you?

One thing about Augusta that surprised me was how many people are truly dedicated to helping the City of Augusta and how everybody plays an amazing part in continuing to make Augusta a better place.

What advice do you have for those considering participating in YLA?

My advice to people interested in joining YLA is simply GO FOR IT. You will learn so much about Augusta that you really had no clue about. The class days are amazing and were truly engaging. No boring moments, I promise.

Why should others apply to be a part of YLA?

Others should apply to be a part of YLA because you are given so many networking opportunities with just meeting new people from each class day. The program is truly great to be a part of with some much exposure.
