Love Was in the Air at Leadership Augusta's Inaugural Augusta Day

It may not be February, but there was no shortage of love in the air at Leadership Augusta's inaugural Augusta Day. Appropriately inspired by this year's class theme, Love Augusta, the event was a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special, not just the places we call home, but the people who dedicate their time and talents to making Augusta better every day.

From the moment the day began, the energy was contagious. The current class, Leadership Augusta alumni, presenters, class chairs, and volunteers all shared a common excitement for learning, reconnecting, and celebrating our community. It truly felt like a reunion with a purpose.

Having graduated from Leadership Augusta seven years ago, for me, the day represented an opportunity to appreciate how much Augusta has grown. From hearing about the economic impact of sports tourism like Augusta’s Ironman and the Nike Peach Jam to touring Augusta latest gem, the Patch, I found the day that reminded me why the program has such a lasting impact. So much has changed in Augusta over the past several years, and Augusta Day offered a fantastic opportunity to hear about the exciting developments happening across our community while reconnecting with fellow alumni who continue to make a difference.

One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing alumni interact with the newest Leadership Augusta class. It was inspiring to watch experienced leaders share their perspectives while hearing the fresh ideas and enthusiasm of those just beginning their Leadership Augusta journey. Those conversations reinforced what makes this program so unique…it doesn't end when you graduate. We are a network of leaders who continue learning from one another and working together to move Augusta forward.

As I drove home, I found myself reflecting on my own Leadership Augusta experience and how grateful I am to have been part of it. If the inaugural Augusta Day is any indication, the future of Leadership Augusta, and Augusta itself, is in very good hands.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Sarah Childers for bringing this vision to life. I hope this is only the first of many Augusta Days to come.

And thank you to our wonderful sponsors Destination Augusta and Queensborough National Bank & Trust!
