Alumni Spotlight: Jackson Drumgoole

What was your favorite class day?
One of my favorite class days was when we explored the interconnected systems that shape our region — education, healthcare, economic development, and public policy. It was powerful to see how every sector is connected and how collaborative leadership is essential to moving our community forward. That day reinforced for me that no single organization or leader can solve complex challenges alone. It strengthened my belief in partnership, shared vision, and collective impact.
How did LA impact your professional life, career trajectory, and community involvement?
Leadership Augusta expanded both my network and my perspective. It connected me to leaders across sectors and deepened my understanding of the assets and challenges in our region. The experience strengthened my commitment to collaborative leadership and directly influenced my work in healthcare and community development. It also affirmed the vision behind Bridge Builder Communities and helped position that work within a broader ecosystem of partners who care deeply about creating opportunity and stability for all those in the city.
Are you more involved in the community since graduation? How? Where?
Yes, significantly. Since completing Leadership Augusta, I have become even more engaged in initiatives with Wellstar focused on healthcare access, workforce development, and community transformation. I also collaborate with civic organizations, foundations, healthcare systems, and local partners to address social determinants of health and build sustainable pathways for individuals and families to thrive.
Favorite memory from your class year?
My favorite memory was the relationships that were built and the candid conversations we had about the future of our community. There was a strong sense of trust, humility, and shared purpose. Those connections continue today, and many of my classmates have become trusted partners and friends. The learning did not end at graduation; it became an ongoing journey of collaboration and impact.
What advice do you have for people interested in participating in LA?
Come in ready to listen, learn, and stretch your thinking. Leadership Augusta is not just about professional development; it is about personal growth and expanding your understanding of the community you serve. Be present, be curious, and invest in the relationships. The more you put into the experience, the more transformational it will be.
Why should others apply to be a part of LA?
Leadership Augusta is a unique opportunity to connect with diverse leaders, gain a deeper understanding of the region, and develop the relationships needed to create meaningful change. If you care about the future of Augusta and want to play a role in shaping it, this experience will equip and inspire you to lead with purpose and collaboration.
